Pie Fundraiser This Weekend! Come buy a Pie or come Volunteer!

What better way to celebrate National Farmers' Market week but by volunteering at a Pie Sale Fundraiser for your local Farmers' Market? If your interested in slinging some pies this weekend, please e-mail Kimi at wallowacountyfarmersmarket@gmail.com.

If you would like to come get a pie and support the Wallowa County Farmers' Market, whole pies are suggested donation of $25 each. This year we will not be able to sell by the slice.

Farmer's Market This Weekend (July 25th)!

We are having our Saturday Farmer's Market this weekend! Normally this would be the weekend for the annual Chief Joseph Days Rodeo and our board had decided to go ahead and have our market as well. Unfortunately, COVID has cancelled Chief Joseph Days but the market will go on! Join us from 9-2 for produce, homemade items, and some yummy foods! See you at the market! And bring those SNAP cards for more spending potential (we will match up to $15) as well as Farm Direct checks.

Backyard Gardens

Vendor Highlight: Backyard Gardens

Owned by: Beth Gibans

Location: Joseph Oregon

Since 2000, Backyard Gardens has been committed to bringing fresh, seasonal, and delicious foods to Wallowa County and beyond through its farm and catering business. Located in Joseph, Oregon, we grow a wide variety of produce for CSA, farmers’ markets, restaurants, and individuals, as well as for use in our catering business

They “aim to provide our community high quality, nutritious, and beautiful produce grown in an environmentally friendly manner. They use ecologically sound practices such as crop rotations, natural amendments, and cover crops instead of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Though not certified organic, the farm attempts to follow the guidelines for organic growing.”

Backyard Gardens offers quality produce, plant starts, flowers, and homemade processed and baked foods. They offer these products through the Wallowa County Farmers’ Market, their CSA (community supported agriculture), restaurants, Genuine Wallowa County Provisions, and retail stores.

They provide many items each week at the farmers’ market, even having two booth spaces for about a month each year to provide a multitude of plant starts for those wanting to grow their own at home! The rest of the season, they provide produce from their backyard locations as well as flowers, produce, herbs, processed foods such as granola and hummus.

Backyard Gardens CSA allows members to get weekly deliveries of fresh, local, and sustainably grown produce. Members pay up front and then get a portion of the harvest throughout the growing season. In addition to their CSA, Backyard Gardens also has a flower share allowing customers to receive flowers each week for the season.

In addition to providing local nutritious produce and plant starts, Backyard Gardens also provides catering using their own produce and locally grown ones to produce delicious food for your event.
